Two weeks ago I shot a spawning session of these magnificent creatures at someone elses house and now he's giving the pair to me. Made some space so no problem. The originated from Linke and were sold on an IGL meeting. One of its precious owners believed the 'Fundort' was Kapuas, can any confirm or correct that?
No one?
Got one brooding right now
Hi Stefan!
I have a few of this Fisches two from an other Fischbreeder in Zepkow. And maybe this http://rmbr.nus.edu.sg/rbz/biblio/46/46rbz041-051.pdf will help you. Could you show me a picture of an male? 'couse there are many pictures of different fishes in the net, they call Betta breviobesus.

Send me some photos of yours and then I should be able to tell. Real brevios can be found on the Betta House website, main page. stefanhome at ilse dot nl
I checked them out and my look like youres. How large are youres? I will send you some Pictures at the weekend, I found a few nice.
Maybe its the Fisch witch Horst Linke in his Book Labyrinthfische Farbe im Aquarium diskribes as Betta sp. aff. pugnax (if I don`t be wrong) from the Kapuas Area?
Oder gibt es im Kapuas noch mehr Maulbrüter in der Art?

Looking forward to the photos! Could be Linke's aff. is brevios, or pinguis (4 sp. from kapuas: sp. Kapuas, pinguis, brevios and dimi).
I'm no Mouthbreederspecialist but are you shure that the fish on the Betta house mainpage is not Betta enisae? I know for shure that mine are from the Kapuas they come to my dealer with a group of Betta dimidiata from the same catch.

Yes I'm positive; that's real brevios You can also find them on the IAA website; Tan's photos.
O.K. New Infos!
I send my pictures to Tan and he say that looks more like sp. Kapuas. I think Betta pinguis has an pointed caudale that mine don't have! I will post the pictures here at the weekend, perhaps somebody else has this wrong brevios.

Hello,
I believe I do have the same fish - bought one pair last IGL half year meeting as breviobesus. But meanwhile, seeing the pictures, I believe that they are sp. Kapus, too - Stefan already argued they are sp. Kapuas, before.
If anybody is interested in these fish - my fry are growing well and the male has one breeding after the other. Meanwhile he is looking quite slim .....
Cheers,
Jan
IGL 159 Bestand: Arnoldichthys spilopterus WF; Ctenopoma acutirostre WF; Fundukopanchax gardneri; Macropodus opercularis "Quan Nam", M. erythroptherus "Dong Hoi"; Microctenopoma fasciolatum F1; Pterophyllum scalare "Belèm Sky Blue“; Trichopodus/Trichogaster leerii WF; Trichopodus/Trichogaster microlepis WF.
If you have the same stock as me they're not Kapuas, but pinguis.
Hello Stefan,
I have got mine from the last IGL meeting. Namely they are from Lothar Hermann, IGL 72, imported fish, as he told me.
Unluckily I cannot make pictures, but maybe you would like to have some of my fish in the future or ask Lothar for the source (I have no contact)?!
Kind regards,
Jan

That's too bad! Maybe keep them as cf. brevios then - just to be sure? Thanks for the offer but there's no need here for more fish
Hi!
But didn't have the pinguis that pointed Caudale? If I remember right Jans have a round like mine.?
