Hallo zusammen,
Seit einigen Wochen habe ich einige neue Betta gekauft. Beide wurden unter Betta "fusca" gekauft (beide sind Wildfänge). Aber ich denke, dass es nicht die selbe Art ist. Kann jemand mir sagen, welche Arten sie sind?

Stefan - no, they're two pairs, and Christa thinks, they are probably 2 different species.
I think so too, in fact I'm pretty sure they're 2 different species. They're very different!
"raten" means "to guess" - in Dutch: raden

Christa, I think the first pair might actually be fusca.
The second pair is not fusca, and not raja - in my view. I don't know any species looking like this; their fins are very impressive with these beautiful long filaments! Wow, what a beauties they are! I'll keep searching for you (and for my own knowledge), which species they could be.

I've got new intel: they're not raja, neither are they fusca (there is no live fusca in the hobby. They're very likely pugnax. I'll check back when my intel has been updated. Karen, thanks for being a dictionary

Hallo,
Im Vorhaus danke sehr für eure Antworten.
Die erste Paar auf den Fotos sind jetzt ungefähr 10cm lang (TL) und haben schon babies gehabt.
Die zweiten sind jetzt Maulbrütend und sind ein wenig kleiner (8cm TL) und auch schlanker als die ersten. Die Weibchen der 2. Paar ist wirklich nicht ähnlich wie die anderen.
Ich habe auch pugnax und die 2. Paar im Foto ist nicht wie sie.
Vielleicht etwas anderes, das euch helfen kann : ich habe beide Paaren als F0 im selben Becken gekauft, so ich denke, dass sie gemeinsam fischen wurden...

They migth be from the same region but defintely not from the same habitat, I feel that's impossible. As for pugnax; I've seen many Fundort types and one would say they're different fish, while they're actually all pugnax. But I don't dare to say anything conclusive at this point; I'm working on it.

No live fusca in the hobby? Why is that (if it's true), and how can you be sure?

The fish pictured at this page, http://www2.neweb.ne.jp/wc/i-ueno/bintan%20p1.html, look like Christa's second pair I think.
According to the person who catched them and now keeps them, they're Betta fusca. The locality where they were found is described, but my translation program has problems translating it. Translated literally it is named 'bottle tongue island' (Bintan?).

Ich habe das Link geschaut, und finde, dass sie sehr sehr ähnlich sind!
Ich warte aber natürlich auf was sie alle denken.

Say what Auke? Raja is Sumatran.
Sumatran as in "Bahasa Indonesia".? Do you know what BI is based on?
