Hi, it's been long time since my previsious post...i hope not to disturb so much opening this topic.

I'm from Italy and we are just now beginning, with the help of associations, to import some Betta species from Thailand, in order to making them spawn and intreoduce f1, f2 and so on in the hobby. At the moment i've f1 of Betta unimaculata "Sengata", Betta unimaculata "Mahakam" and Betta schalleri.

As i regret any form of selections in fishkeeping, i'm wondering if it's possible (and if "yes" is the correct answer, how to do it) looking for a wild specimens of Betta splendens.
Do you think they still exist?

Thanks for your answers.
Greetings from Italy, Marco.

Hello Knut & Marco!

If it is possible and you know roberto from Bettas4all Forum then an arrangement in Frechen is no problem... Roberto probably comes from italy to frechen to our IGL meeting... if you ask him nice sure he will bring you the fishes to italy.

After almost a year i'm here again, but now i'm very happy to say that Roberto bring back in italy some of your Betta splendens "wild-type" and he gave me two adult couples.
i bred them several times and now i'm also full of young specimens :jump:

My question now is (and is directed to the one who collected them): can you say the exact location their grandparents came from?

Tanks in advice
Bye, Marco
